Shropshire marketing agency achieves important cyber security milestone

Adfield Group, a leading marketing and event management business located in Beckbury, Shropshire, has recently obtained Cyber Essentials accreditation with the support of its Shrewsbury-based managed IT services provider, Start Tech. This achievement represents a significant step in Adfield’s efforts to further defend its IT infrastructure from cybercrime and will reassure clients of its continuous commitment to maintaining a safe and secure digital environment.

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed security standard designed to protect companies from common cyber threats. The National Cyber Security Centre recommends organisations of all sizes secure this certification to demonstrate that they are dedicated to safeguarding digital assets and keeping them out of the hands of criminals.

Cyber security has been a top priority for Adfield’s Chief Operating Officer Gareth Thomas since joining the business in July last year. He said: “I am pleased to announce that we have secured the Cyber Essentials accreditation. At Adfield, we have always taken cyber security extremely seriously and gaining this certification highlights that we are ready to adapt our practices in response to evolving cyber threats.”

“I would like to thank the Start Tech team for providing us with an outstanding service and helping us to implement the measures necessary to gain this accreditation.”

With a team of highly experienced IT specialists, Start Tech has been supporting Adfield with its cyber security since January 2025. In addition to assisting Adfield in gaining its Cyber Essentials certificate, this award-winning firm supplies ongoing support to ensure all systems operate efficiently.

Ellis Williams, Project Technician at Start Tech, praised the Adfield team for their cooperation, commenting: “It has been a pleasure to help Adfield accomplish its cyber security goals. Their staff truly understand the importance of adhering to cyber security best practices, and I’d like to commend them for their patience, cooperation and willingness to learn.”

He continued: “The recent spate of high-profile cyber attacks on retail giants Marks and Spencer and Co-op serves as a stark reminder of the need for stringent cyber security practices in the workplace. In acquiring its Cyber Essentials certificate, Adfield is setting a strong example for other businesses in the region to follow.”

Adfield’s partnership with Start Tech has not only enhanced its cyber defences but also aligns with its ambition to build relationships with local companies. By developing stronger ties with nearby organisations, Adfield aims to play its part in driving growth in the region’s economy.

Although Adfield does not offer cyber security services directly, its expert website design and development team can offer specialist advice regarding the plug-ins and platforms organisations can use to protect their websites from hackers.
